WHITESNAKE Frontman Interviewed By U.K.'s ROCK RADIO; Audio Available
April 24, 2009A brand new interview with WHITESNAKE frontman David Coverdale conducted by U.K.'s Rock Radio is available for streaming at this location.
Speaking to Rock Radio DJ Tom Russell, Coverdale said WHITESNAKE's anniversary appearance at Download this year is likely to be the band's last U.K. appearance until 2011 — because he'll be working on a new album in 2010. Also planned are two WHITESNAKE anniversary releases and a reissue of an extended version of last year's critically acclaimed effort "Good To Be Bad".
"Slide It In" was originally released in 1984, and the remastered CD/DVD set includes both the U.K. and U.S. versions of the album plus seven videos. "Slip of the Tongue", dedicated to drummer Cozy Powell and guitarist Mel Galley, includes four bonus tracks on the CD and eight videos on the DVD. Coverdale said: "It's the remastering that's special. It's the freshest I've ever heard the records."
He added that he didn't plan to appear in the U.K. after last year's tour with DEF LEPPARD, but decided to play at Download 25 years after his last appearance. And it's likely to be WHITESNAKE's last European show until 2011.
He said: "We took the opportunity to work with the LEPS again because Joe [Elliott] and I realized we still had a few bottles of Bush Mill to polish off. I wasn't intending to do any European stuff this year — I didn't want to wear out my welcome, but it was impossible not to commit to Download. It's a cracker of a lineup.
"I'm not going to be pandering — it's not a cabaret act. We'll be kicking as much arse as we can.
"It's possibly going to be the last U.K. show for a year and half, because I've been asked to do another album next year and we all know how long that takes. So we'll be firing on all six [cylinders] for that hour and a half."
